SCHOLARSHIPS DETAILS.
The Child Care Scholarship (CCS) Program in Maryland is a government-supported initiative that helps working families manage the expenses associated with child care. Administered by the Maryland Department of Human Services (DHS), this program is designed for families with kids aged from infancy up to 12 years old.
The exact amount of the CCS scholarship is determined by how much a family earns and the price of child care services in their locality. These scholarships can either cover the entire cost of child care or help reduce the overall expense.
CCS scholarships are valid at any child care provider participating in Maryland’s EXCELS program. This program is focused on improving the quality of child care providers throughout the state.
To participate for the CCS program, families need to fill out an application form and provide proof of their income and employment. This can be done either online or through traditional mail.

SCHOLAR BENEFITS AND AWARD
- The money a family gets from the CCS program depends on their earnings, how many kids they have, and the price of child care where they live.
CCS gives different amounts based on a family’s income, the number of kids, and child care costs. Let’s see some examples:
- A family with two people can get CCS if they make up to $48,637 each year.
- A family of three can qualify with an income of up to $60,081.
- If a family has four members, their income can be up to $71,525.
- For a family with five members, the most they can earn and still get CCS is $82,969.
The CCS money also depends on child care prices. In Maryland, they check how much child care costs in each county. Families then get a scholarship that helps pay part of the child care cost. The scholarship amount is based on how much money the family makes and how many kids they have.
- For instance, if a family of two earns $40,000 a year, they might get a CCS scholarship covering 75% of child care’s average cost. This means the family has to pay the remaining 25% themselves.
